The Vampire Diaries/Secret Circle blogplosion continues!

Wednesday, September 14, 2011
Hey Peeps!
I have got something good tonight for ya. Okay, so its Wednesday night, your tired, you wish it was Friday, yeah yeah yeah, I hear ya. But before you take yourself off and collapse into bed and start snoring peel those eye lids back (hold em open if you have to) and check out this GUEST post.

My girl, Anaavu, over at book-spark has written a review for The Secret Circle. That's right, its the books that the new TV show is based on and premiering Thursday night right after Vampire Diaries. She is doing some awesome posts, in addition to this one, about VD and SC. You should check out her blog because it rocks!

Oh and right after her review I will post a little video teaser for The Secret Circle so you can see what's its all about. Frankly, I wanna see the video too, because I haven't read these books and I don't know whats going on! LOL

Here's is Annavu's review:

                                             *SPOILERS ABOUND BELOW*
For once, I thought it was acceptable to put spoilers, since we're going to watch it all on TV soon anyway ;)

Review: Sixteen-year-old Cassie is furious when she is forced to move from sunny California to a dilapidated old house in the middle of nowhere – all for a grandmother she never has never known. After a week of humiliation by the school bully, she meets Diana, who introduces her to the group of friends that “rule” the school. She is drawn to Diana’s beauty and concern and they become fast friends. She often feels like she is part of their group, but is excluded from some secret, which turns out to be that they are all witches, even Cassie. Cassie is quickly initiated.

In The Captive, the Circle is beset by dark forces-from the skull Adam dug out.
The whole group must cooperate if they want to fight this powerful magic. Meanwhile, Adam and Cassie become very close, and they admit to their mutual love, but decide to keep quiet about it. In the third part of the Secret Circle series, Faye is enraptured by the power of the skull is determined to have it all to herself. She blackmails Cassie into getting it for her, while slowly influencing many of the members to side with her instead of Diana. She thus cheats her way to head of the Circle. With Faye as leader, the Circle breaks into chaos. The spirit in the skull is revealed to have enormous power, but by the end, shy, quiet Cassie leads the group to the defeat of Black Johm.

Overall, I liked the first book well enough. It’s the kind of book you would read in one sitting. It definitely drew me in
and held my interest, and I couldn’t wait to get the sequel, but I’d probably forget it pretty soon if it weren’t for the coming TV show. I was dissatisfied with a couple of things: 1) The tests to join the Circle are treated as if they were a big deal, but if I recall correctly, all Cassie had to do was not have fear in her heart (LOL!) and step into the Circle with the dagger to her throat. This was the proclaimed “tests”. Not that big a deal.

Another thing that seemed incomprehensible is that these two (Adam and Cassie) are teenagers and together for no more than twenty minutes, and they’re in love? That’s a bit ridiculous, don’t you think, even with magic? I say it’s the raging hormones. Lol. I thought the characters were well-developed, but the physical characterization was a little too obvious. White for purity, and black for evil - it’s as if the author is punching you with a great big “DUH”. But it's all good because Faye (the evil one) redeems herself in the end. Woot!

Lastly, I am a tiny bit disappointed that it is being made into a TV show. For one, scriptwriters take the book and do crazy things with just to keep it going, which usually degrades the actual thing. And secondly, if you wanted to start yet another paranormal TV show, why this one? Why not Richelle Mead’s series? Why not something by Lauren Kate, Amber Kizer, Melissa de la Cruz, or even Maggie Stiefvater? This book is perfectly average compared to other books of the same genre. Just because one series has produced a hit doesn’t mean you should jump on board with every series produced by that author.

I enjoyed the second book much better than the first one. Now that the first had set the pace, this one got to be filled with many of the action moments, which I enjoyed immensely. One thing that hasn’t changed since book 1 is its predictability. I could guess the skull’s relationship to Cassie by the end of the first book, and it is obvious she will be voted leader and will fix everything (she is, after all, the protagonist). At the end of the day, I like the message this book sends to girls, but plot and narration have a lot more work to do if they want to reach out to a wider audience. With that said, the book series and its author has its own set of fans, and I totally respect and support that.

*I don't usually bash books like this-I apologize

I don't know about you all, but I am going to tune in just to see if the show is any better than the book was apparently NOT! LOL.
Let's all see if the teaser (trailer) looks good:

I'm thinking it looks pretty good. What do you all think? Are you going to give the show a try?

Vampire Diaries Countdown continues!

Hey peeps!
As you know we are getting closer to the VD premiere on CW. In fact, its tomorrow!!!
So for those of you who don't watch it but might want to check it out I have a run down of the most important characters and their roles on the show.
For those of you who already watch the show enjoy the pics of the hot cast. Seriously, it must be a prerequisite that the peeps on this show be insanely good looking.

First up we have Damon (did you really think i would put anyone else first?)

Damon- He is brother to Stefan and a kick ass vampire. He eats people, a lot. He will kill without blinking (and often does) no one really likes him but everyone respects him and whenever there is a crisis they go to him because he gets the job done. When it comes to Elena, he will do whatever it takes to keep her alive. He also happens to be in love with her. But for some INSANE reason she wants to be with Stefa instead. Which, by the way only makes Damon meaner. And that's why we all love him.

Stefan- Brother to Damon and Vamp. He doesn't eat people. He eats squirrels and animals. It makes him slightly weaker than his brother Damon and all other Vamps that eat people. But when he drinks human blood he becomes crazy. (which frankly is a lot hotter than when he eats squirrels) He always tries to do the right thing and he is also in love with Elena. Although, at the end of ast season he ate a whole bunch of human blood (and even a person!!) because Klaus made him in order to save his brother Damon from dying from a werewolf bite.

A little note about these brothers: they have a love hate relationship. They love each other but they fight a lot and sometimes they don't trust each other. Right in the middle of them is Elena who is just below:

Elena- She's the girl in the middle of everything. Both borthers love her and try to protect her because everyone keeps trying to kill her. Bothe her parents are dead, but it turns out she was actually adopted and her real dad is actually her uncle, who is a real sleeze bag. Her real mother was once married to Alaric and then later turned into a vamp by (who else?) Damon, but now she's dead. She is known as the Doppleganger, and looks exactly like Katherine, a vampire who Stefan and Damon fought over a couple hundred years ago.

Bonnie- Elena's BFF and also a witch. She is the most powerful witch because they found some burial ground where a bunch of witches were killed and the witches then gave Bonnie all their power. Bonnie makes lots of sacifices to protect Elena. She is now dating Jeremy, Elena's younger brother.

Jeremy- Elena's younger brother. He is hot. Yup, and is now dating Bonnie. BUt he used to date Vicki, Matt's sister, who got turned into a vamp (yup, by Damon) and then Damon killed her cause she was eating everybody and had no vampire manners. Then Jeremy dated Anna, yup another Vamp but she got killed too. Last season he died and Bonnie brought him back to life and now it seems that he is seeing ghosts, more specifically, ghosts of all his dead exes.

Caroline- Good Friend to Bonnie and Elena. She got turned into a vampire by Katherine (old evil vamp) and Stefan taught her how to live and not be a killer. Stefan and Damon and Caroline have special rings that allow them to walk in the sun. Caroline was dating Matt, but she kept wanting to eat him so she dumped him for his protection. Then she started gettin close to Tyler (a hot werewolf) but then Matt wanted her back. Well it turns out Matt doesn't like the fact the she is a vamp so he dumped her.

Matt- he is an all american guy. His sister is dead (vicki) and his mom left him. He is all on his own and doesn't want nothing to do with  no vamps.

Tyler- He's a werewolf, he's in love with Caroline and he's totally hot. Enough said.

Alaric- He is a vampire hunter and also used to be married to Elena's birth mother. He was in love with Jenna and then Klaus killed her. He is a surprising alliance with Damon and Stefan. He and Damon are usually together even though they prolly won't admit to being friends. Now that Jenna is dead Alaric is going to watch over Elena and Jeremy because they have no one else. Alaric is also a high school teacher.

Klaus- He's like the oldest vampire ever, an origianl. He's bad, evil and he is corrupting Stefan to be bad too. Which is fun. He's also hot and has a major agenda. He killed Jenna, alaric's woman and Elena and Jeremy's aunt. He tried to kill Elena and he'll prolly try and kill her again. He's a new addition to the cast for season 3.

So there you have it peeps! That's the Down low on the VD cast! Who's your favorite and what are your predictions for Season 3?
